Kerrycrats.com - any suggestions?
I've had this domain name for a while but I haven't had the time to do anything with it. What kind of site should it be? Any suggestions, ideas, designs, volunteers?

I've got the Web space too...just need to create a site and upload content. Any Kerrycrats on board?

1. Maybe the site should be about Kerry AND Kerrycrats
People could tell their story why they came to support Kerry, and why they couldn't walk away from him after the election loss in '04. I know I love to read "stories", especially personal stories. Of course, there could also be core policy stuff, and Kerry news, too, but maybe the site should be about us. And maybe we could also talk about our "pet issues"; I would love to give a bit of a platform to the Iraqi bloggers, who live in such horrid conditions, yet are willing to turn on their computer (when the power is on) and share their thoughts and feelings with the rest of the world. It seems that every Kerrycrat has an area which they are very interested in and knowledgeable, but once again, give it an "Oprah feel" so people can relate. What do you think?

2. That is a wonderful idea!
You know, I had thought of getting a book together on a similar theme. Personal stories of inspiration and loyalty. Maybe we can work on the site and then the book! So many good writers here.

3. Yeah, especially good are stories like Karynnj's when Kerry
went to NJ, and one of her acquaintenances became severely dehydrated, missing the speech while she received an IV in an ambulance. One of the ambulance workers ran to get a picture for her, and instead, Kerry came into the ambulance to make sure she was alright. AND . . . we have the picture to prove it!!! There are a TON of those little stories on dKos, too that just come out of the woodwork. We could capture them, as they come along. These stories are just plain inspirational.

4. Yes! I love that idea! People need to know what Senator Kerry is
really like and what better way to tell the story than to...tell the stories!

10. I agree
We need to tell all the stories, have them in one spot. Maybe we can connect stories to some of his pioneering work too, like maybe Rikki Klieman being one of the women hired when he was prosecutor, stuff like that.

15. Check out this great post I found from 2004
cuz I didn't know who Rikki Klieman was:

http://www.talkleft.com/new_archives/007393.html

If we needed only one reason to support John Kerry, this might be it. For the first time since 1992, the Democratic Party Platform will not contain an endorsement of the death penalty.

9. I'm working on a John Kerry quote generator.
I'm at about 70 quotes but want to add the new ones before I launch it.

SO many good quotes from JK!

11. The more websites
dedicated to what Kerry's doing the better! If I didn't have my own to maintain, I'd help out. If you need any help with getting into the search engines, RSS Feeds etc, I can fill you in on that.

17. Your site must be a full-time job! You have done well getting in the
searches and account for most of the positive posts that come up about Senator Kerry. I'm very curious about RSS feeds. Aren't they more geared for news sites and blogs? Would they also work for a support site that features personal and human interest type stories?

Curious to see what you think since you have obviously done so well promoting the Dem Daily.

Any advice about searches and RSS will be really appreciated. I too believe that the more sites we get out there and link to one another the better.

13. Yea .... that's a great idea
Let me know if I can do anything to help.

p.s. Where do you have the domain hosted???
I have a site on Network Solutions ....they have lots of templates that make it really easy to do and I'm more than happy to help with the design/implementation. I'm not a web expert, but I have pretty good graphic design skills (and a graphic designer roommate).

14. Great idea!
I concur that we need as many pro-Kerry sites as we can create.

I like the idea upthread about posting personal stories of why we support John Kerry, and some of the more obscure personal touches of Kerry's own life.

I'm hoping for a grand unveiling of the new site soon!

16. I love Beachmom's idear.
Also, including lots of photos (of JK and family) would be nice. I'm an extremely right-brained, visual person, and I know there are others out there afflicted with the same curse. Other than that, a nice clean, uncluttered design is always nice.

18. Mission Statement needed. Any suggestions?
Since creating a site might take a while, it would be nice to start by putting a mission statement on the holder page.

If anyone has any suggestions, please post here. And if anyone wants to volunteer to write the mission statement based on the input, that would be really appreciated.

After we get the mission statement up, we can concentrate on designing a site. I'm pretty good with photoshop but I'm in the stone age technically (still using FrontPage). I like the subtle flash annimation on this site: http://www.designsforhealth.com/

Anyhow getting a mission statement on the holder page is the first step, unless anyone else has a better suggestion.
