Just out of curiosity - when you go see Kerry at a fundraiser

how much do you pay, if it's a dinner??

The reason I am asking is because Bill Clinton is coming next week to campaign for Pederson
(Kyl's opponent) and I just about jumped out of my skin when I read that, until I saw that it
was a $500/plate dinner. Ouch!

Do you pay that much to see Kerry?

This is so exciting, Arizona is pretty much ignored by politicians -
and we all know I feel about Kyl. And it's Clinton - what I wouldn't give to go back to those days.

and what the legal limit is in your state for cyclical contributions to primary and general election campaigns is. (My limit to a candidate for Gov in Mass is $500 a year. However, I can give to a PAC and donate more, that is if I could.)

I paid $35 to hear Sen. Kerry speak in Nashua in NH. (It cost more to see him at this little meet-and-greet before hand.) $35 is a nice accessible price. Course, I like free too. (Hey, Faneuil Hall was free and that was great!) The $35 also included a largely inedible meal, so there was that as well!

I'd pay much much more to see Kerry.

What about his birthday fundraiser?

Ahm, I really don't know if they made any money off us though, as there was this bar bill later on.... (And food and a big bar bill.)

That was 'wicked nice.' It was very affordable. And it was, ahm, memorable. Ahm, very, very memorable. I really think that we simply MUST do that again. Boston is lovely, albeit cold and wet, at Christmas time. How are the flights from Phoenix anyway around that time of year?

They kept the suggested minimum donation low so as to encourage more folks to come to the PArty. Ahm, it worked.

That would have been amusing to see ... And you're right, we must do it again.

$150 for the keynote dinner and I don't know who is speaking at that, $500 for the keynote & Dean Kickoff reception, $250 for just the Dean reception. I did notice we can get a $25 ticket just to hear Dean speak, I would guess that's after the $35 convention registration.

I'm not going.

The Mass State Dem Convention costs me (and my husband, each) $75.00. Tht includes my 'dues' to the Party for the year. (Well there is that.) That also pays for a lovely boxed lunch for when they 'lock' us in the hall during the voting for contested races. (Each candidate, theoretically, has to get 15% of the delegate vote in order to appear on the ballot.)

That is my only fee for this convention. I can't attend on Friday night because my son is graduating from high school, but the voting on Friday night is only for uncontested elections, so it's a big social event anyway. (But Teddy Kennedy is giving his acceptance speech. Sigh! And there are tons of parties. Cheesecake parties. Teddy's throwing a party, free. Why couldn't my son graduate the night before? Sigh!) There are breakfasts that are being paid for by the various folks up for contested races the next day and they are gratis. There is also a big party after the convention being hosted by two US Sens, 3 Cong and 52 members of the Mass legislature. Gratis. (I'm going to be partying on an interest's groups dime, in this case the Coaltion for Women's Health. Which is kind of funny as most of the 'hosts' at the party are men, as is our entire US Cong. delegation. Mass is weird.)

There is an event on Thursday night, before the convention that has various pay scales. I can see Sen. Obama at a dinner for $500. I can then see him and my Dem Gov candidate speak at the Hynes Auditorium for $50, or I can go to all the events plus another reception after the Hynes event for $2500. Ahm, Guess which one I would go for? (That plus, I don't really like the private receptions which is just a matter of personal taste.)

I didn't go, but I think it was something like $150/250 with or without dinner.

And handed him the 25% of Middle Class Iraqis flee country story. And plead and beg for him to stop deluding himself. I suppose my previous contributions to the Kerry campaign would have been a red flag for the Secret Service, but I'm just sayin'.
