Kerry on Road to the White House this Sunday at 6:30 PM on C-SPAN
It will be his speech at Kenyon College. Although I saw it on the computer, nothing beats a big TV to see the Senator speak. Everyone set up their VCRs, Tivos, and DVRs, because that speech was a keeper!

3. Re: Rove in NH
Just read this in Dan Froomkin's column.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2006/06/16/BL2006061600916_pf.html

The Union Leader on Rove

The fiscally conservative Manchester Union Leader was not impressed by Rove's visit to New Hampshire: "Karl Rove might not have lied to special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald about his role in publicly identifying CIA employee Valerie Plame, but he told one heck of a whopper when he stopped in Manchester on Monday.

"Speaking of what separates Democrats from Republicans, President Bush's top political adviser said, 'They're for more spending. We're for less spending.'

"Republicans for less spending? Less than what?"

2. This is fantastic
That was a great speech - in every way and so warm and special for that school. (Sure beats irratating New School kids while you ignore tham on their big day.)

8. No, I couldn't watch.
But Bayh is finishing up, so JK's up next!!!
What did you think about Bayh's speech? It was OK, but not very exciting.

9. About how far into it before Sen. Kerry came on?
I want to set a timer to get the speech and I was wondering if you good people who already saw it could advise about how much time I need.

Thanks!

11. It will be on at about

10:25. I forgot to look at the exact time but he is the last to speak.

By the way where was C-Span for TBA conference ? I have seen only one segment with Robert Redford. It seems like the DKos lovefest was repeated over and over again.

13. I don't think C-Span covered much
Edited on Sun Jun-18-06 07:48 PM by TayTay
Perhaps that is because they had covered Yearly Kos. Most of the major speeches have been put online though. I know it's tough to watch some people on itty bitty screens, but it's better than nothing.

15. all I can say is, good thing Bayh was on first,
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 12:41 AM by ginnyinWI
or people would have shut off the tv when he'd have come on after JK.

Okay, that was mean-- but really, John Kerry as a speaker is so much more charming, funny, interesting and multi-dimensional!! Evan Bayh is a pale shadow by comparison. (am I being too biased? ;) )

(as for Rover, I had him on mute while I read a book! Can't stand both seeing and hearing that porcine political operative. Same with * --I will watch him if I don't have to hear him, or listen to him if I don't have to see him.)

19. Very close to my impression
At the very beginning, Bayh seemed to talk too fast, but he got better. I saw little of the connection with the crowd that Kerry had in abundance both at Kenyon and at Emerson. That college is an Indiana school, so he's been both their Governor and their Senator. It may be that Bayh will improve over time or with audiences that were there specifically to see him.

20. I didn't want to say anything but, Bayh was definitely not on par
with Kerry. You mentioned Kerry being multi-dimensional, well Bayh seemed one dimensional in his speech.
My daughter was watching the Kerry speech elsewhere and she came to me towards the end and very enthusiastically said she though Kerry was doing a great job. We then finished watching it together.

10. I couldn't listen to it. I really need my television to see Sen. Kerry
and if I made myself watch the PPO, I'd get so upset I'd toss the damn set out the window!

12. It was a great speech.
Much better on teevee than on the computer (although that was good too ;-) ) It must have been a really windy day judging from the spurts of extracurricular mic noise. The man wears a robe well btw. :)

16. it was windier than I had thought.
Whatever the Senator puts on his hair, it does the job--his hair always stays in place. Bayh's hair was blowing all around though.

17. saw it, it was great
it's almost like he was having a conversation with the audience rather than just giving a speech. i know Clinton used that method a lot. i think Kerry should do more of it. i know he usually does at the start of a speech, but for the whole speech to be like that is interesting.

i always admired how he would use local situations to highlight the larger issues that affect all.

18. The local mentions were great!
That shows he did his homework and that he LISTENS to what folks say to him. Imagine that. A leader who listens. I like that idear!
