Perhaps contact his Senate office? This could all just be the crazy ramblings of a college student though. Heh :)

1. Yes, but let's have some political action to
bring to him. I'd be to embarrassed to show up like we were his fan club or something.
What will it be? NAFTA? Election Fraud? Health Care?

4. Learn Disabilities, excellent topic and
close to JK's heart. Special Ed is important to me personally too, because I went to a special high school for the mentally ill.

6. Yep, I done read it.
A lot of people at my "special" high school had ADD. I have major depression, anxiety, partically social anxieties.
As a Derryiac, I'd like to point out that Dean was a great supporter of the rights of the mentally ill to be covered under health care, as well.

The history of this country from what I learned in psychology towards the mentally ill has not been good. Sorry about your mental illnesses.

8. Well, the hot button issues are
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 08:30 AM by TayTay
Social Security, War in Iraq, healthcare for children (and eventually all Americans) and the deficit.

Education has always been of special concern to Massholes. Kerry has a good record on this as regards to voting for money and programs. That would be a fine issue to discuss.

Now, what do you bring to the table and what is it that you want to hear? Who do you represent and what does the federal government have to do with it? What specific programs are on the docket this year that affect SpEd programs? Is there a continuation of SpEd funding in colleges? Does No Child Left Behind affect SpEd spending? What is it that you want a US Senator to do about it?

Discuss, get back to us on this forum and we can call the office and ask to speak to someone in charge of ed policy. It will be a start.

12. Yeah, I am a fan, but it's not like he's
(just) a rockstar or something. If we want the full JK experience, it would be great to talk about health care or other iniatives he's pushing and not just gush over him. Don't get me wrong I'd love a good gush.

Maybe we could ask if the Sen is in that week. Then we would have a ready made issue. I am a constituent and am worried about the war and it's affects on the country.

go with your friends. I'm old enough to be your Mom, dear. You need to hang out with your friends. I need to hang out and protest as what I am, a Mom with concerns about the future for her kids.

'tis okay with me.

38. I want to go
I spoke to my husband about it and used my "I'm serious" voice. (As opposed to my usual, I'm lost in LaLaland voice. There is a difference.) He looked at me, remembered what I said when he told me he was thinking of running for elected office again and smiled. Sure, go follow your star, said the love of my life. So it looks good.

God I don't get it, our two class conservatives somehow got very promient senators, McCain and that ass Hatch. I don't know, I guess its because they have a more impressive resume than I but damnit, they got their choices, at least the McCain dude did, he's known since November where he's gonna be working. Such a right wing shithead he is, he's the ass who condescended to me the night before the inaguration.

26. I would not be surprised
and then I find out that the girl who got my first choice, Kennedy, remember I was trying to get this pre election, I thought Kerry would be in the white house so Kennedy became my first choice, so I find out that the girl who got him, got him only so she could supposely get drunk with him and according to what I hear, she's a republican ditz. Goddamnit, Ive always liked and admired the Kennedy family, and this is how I am treated.

Maybe that explains it. It must be so frustrating for you since you actually care about the issues and know about the person you'd be working for. Maybe you can get a kickass internship when you go to college.

Yeah, I come from a rich area but I myself don't come from an incredibly wealthy background. I come from a good background, don't get me wrong but if it wasn't for my mom, we would live in an apartment or something like that. Many people here have nice cars that they don't have to work for, more than one game console, etc. I have a computer of course and a PS2 but it's not as if when I get my license, I am gonna get a sports car like some of these people.

48. Oh, sure
I'm gone for a few days diligently trying to keep up with my increasingly overwhelming studies and you all plan an all-John included trip without me. Waaaaa!

Enough of the pity-party. I'd love to go. Have to check when Spring break is, though. Our schedule is a fair bit screwed-up. My issue of focus for passion's sake (and the focus of my academic semester since I've been able to tie it into a class) is repealing the PATRIOT act, but I have a host of other issues. What good liberal, doesn't anyway. The environment is of paramount importance to me in the grand scheme of things, but the Iraq situation obviously has to take precedence. The matter of most urgency, I guess.
