I must say, I am very proud of John right now

His questioning of Rice and his leadership on the Kids First Bill, and not to my surprise, that is not good enough for some, well ya know, fuck em, these people wouldn't find RFK or FDR good enough for them back in the day either, Kerry is working his ass off and they still fling mud at him. I think those of you who say they are bitter over him beating their candidates are right, when I worked for Kerry this election, I was not just anyone but bush but for Kerry, and that to me is what kept me going, the america John Kerry wanted was much like the America I wanted.

I made my picks pre election so my original for choice was the great senior senator from Massachuetts but I didn't get him. William Lacy Clay's office says I look like an excellent candidate, so I could be working there. There's also a remote possiblity that Ron Wyden's office may take me.

Good for you - should be pretty cool, regardless of who you end up working for.

The internships go pretty fast. Plus, they like to take a cross section of people. Keeps it interesting. Since people nationally have heard of Sens Kennedy & Kerry, they get a lot of national candidates. Bigger pool of candidates, less chance constituents can work there. Sigh! Price ya pay, I guess.

BTW, Kleeb, Capital Hill is a great place. I was there waaaay back in the 70's and interned for a Rep. (Michael Harrington of MA. Long time ago. Another guy with a conscience.) Have fun. Don't mind all the swearing. Keep your eyes and ears open and you can learn something. And make friends with the folks who work there doing the routine jobs like stacking the paper, cleaning the halls, etc. Talk to them and learn. They know a lot.

When JK puts his hand up and does something, they attack. What does this mean? To me, freepers. Some of them longstanding Dem posers, no doubt. They are programmed to keep him shot down. They want no "return of the king". Cause if they are only Dean or Clark Dems, why get all worked up about Kerry? Why go to all that trouble, especially since Dean and Clark are not competing with JK on any fronts now. The only other reason might be that they just enjoy bitching--but logic tells me that they have a darker motive. I mean, how many weeks can you say "Kerry is a loser" before it gets tiresome!

I do go over there out of curiosity, but I try not to kick their threads! Better to start a new, positive one to counteract theirs, and boost JK and his projects. Others of us Kerrycrats who go over there will notice ANY thread with JK's name on it, and can add to it. Fight fire with fire, I say!

He is such an inspiration. I have so much more hope, knowing that people like John Kerry are out there fighting for us. I am so damn proud of him, Senator Boxer, and all the Dems that spoke out this past week. This is just the beginning.

I am also filled with hope. It was so damn nice to see so many Dems stand up and say No to Condi's appointment. I know the confirmation was going to go through. But there were a lot of no's. I think the Dems have found their spine and are going to start to get serious about opposing * and his policies. Joy!

BTW, did you see or hear the SSI hearings the Dems did today. Sarbanes, Reid and few others took testimony from people about how fake the SSI crisis is. They even had a few Social Security Dept employees get up and tell that they are under pressure to push the crisis thing. How damn sad. Sarbanes told them that if they get any pressure from higher ups to call him and he would make sure they were cared for. That was wonderful.

That is good to hear. I was beginning to feel disappointed. I think they are just warming up,and they are picking their battles wisely. I am willing to give them a chance.

I heard that is a definite maybe. Do you know?

JK is my president. It's no surprise that he working so hard, he's always done that. That's why they could never substantiate those RW smear adultery charges, he works so hard, he hasn't the time for something on the side.

He's one of the most underrated senators we got, I said hi to him when I was getting a tour of the senate one time, actually he said hi to our group, I was trying to get an internship with him then but I didn't get it because Paul prefers having Marylanders work for him which is cool I guess.

AND Mikulski. What we really need now is a Democratic Gov., one who won't push slots, anti-malpractice legislation, and the selling of our precious park land, like Ehrlich. Please pray that we'll have a Donkey in 2006.

Corporate Media actually pays attention to this but that is probably wishful thinking although I know there is a good article on todays hearing. I will go look for it.

I streamed this at work, mostly on just audio. I gotta catch the C-Span repeat. I love the audience interaction. It's just nice to have those visual clues that Kerry has learned or rather re-learned how to connect with an audience. He most assuredly had this skill when he was younger and I think he is getting back in the groove.

Having just re-watched Going Upriver, I can say that the old JK is back--you could practically superimpose video of him then over video of him now and have a match in tone, intensity, and content. The only thing different is the specific cause he's fighting for now--but it all goes under the same general heading--fighting for what's just and right.

Loss can shape you as much as any positive event. Kerry dealt with his first loss in that awful Rep. race by hunkering down and working harder. (OMG, how New Englandy. The answer to all of life's questions and hardships is to, ahm, work harder. Always makes me laugh.) I wouldn't be surprised if the soul-searching that went on after this loss resulted in Kerry deciding to just be himself. If he re-brands for another shot at the Presidency, then I think he will trim off the excess PR stuff and just try and be himself. Explain that he has a core and that he has always had values. Then go ahead and explain them. The whole Kids Come First health care bill is a good example of this. To hell with slinking away quietly and not doing anything. He had a strong agenda, he intends to go through with it. Nice.

One thing this election taught everyone is that you don't need to necessarily move to the center, or be a repub-lite, to get votes. The grassroots have found their voice, and they want a candidate with solid Democratic values and who stands for something. Not only Kerry, but Dean's following showed us this too. Someone who will take a stand, someone who will lead.

Also, getting 57,000,000+ votes might tend to give a guy a bit of confidence! ;) He knows we've got his back. Did you notice that on MTP today he mentioned the 800,000 of us who signed the petition to get rid of Rummy?

Based on what I read on the rest of DU I worry that he thinks we've all turned against him. I keep meaning to write and tell him what his campaign meant to me.

My old Marbleheader boyfriend was just like that. Harder work is the cure to everything. And if not the cure, at least you're too busy to get depressed. Keeps you warm in the winter too.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I was proud of him when he was running, was he was gracious in defeat and when he keeps fighting for what's right.
