http://www.marianne-en-ligne.fr/exclusif/virtual/monde/e-docs/00/00/25/D5/document_web.md?type=text.html

How do parents react to such bullshits ?

They are in the textbooks of the American schools :

"the masturbation can cause a pregnancy",

"the AIDS goes through the condoms in 30% of the cases",

"after a IVG, the women are predisposed with the suicide"

2. Bon article dans le New York Times
"The Plot Against Sex in America" traite le film "Kinsey" comme réflection du conflit entre ceux qui croient que l'ignorance et la peur amène à la moralité et ceux qui croient que l'education sexuelle libre amènent à une société plus responsable.

"(N)ot everyone welcomed the idea that candor might supplant ignorance and shame in the national conversation about sex. Billy Graham, predictably, said the publication of Kinsey's research would do untold damage to 'the already deteriorating morals of America.'"

"The film is just this month's handy pretext for advancing the larger goal of pushing sex of all nonbiblical kinds back into the closet and undermining any scientific findings, whether circa 1948 or 2004, that might challenge fundamentalist sexual orthodoxy...."

"'Kinsey' is an almost uncannily helpful guide to how these old cultural fault lines have re-emerged from their tomb, virtually unchanged. Among Kinsey's on-screen antagonists is a university hygiene instructor who states with absolute certitude that abstinence is the only cure needed to stop syphilis. Sound familiar? In tune with the 'moral values' crusaders, the Web site for the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has obscured and downplayed the important information that condoms are overwhelmingly effective in preventing sexually transmitted diseases."

3. 10 facts from the above article in the New York Times 12/12/04
This would be an 8 hour translation project for me, so I'm putting it up in English. Read it and weep for us.

1. This year, 40 states are dealing with challenges to the teaching of evolution in the public schools.

2. The Web site for the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has obscured and downplayed the fact that condoms are overwhelmingly effective in preventing sexually transmitted diseases.

3. A non-profit group, “Advocates for Youth”, publicized the above subterfuge. The U.S. Federal government retaliated against this group with three audits of its finances in eight months.

4. Various fictions are being presented as scientifically valid facts in abstinence-only sex education programs in the public schools. 2 examples are: AIDS is spread by tears and sweat, and masturbation can cause pregnancy.

5. Abstinence-only programs are the ONLY federally supported sex education programs. These programs have cost American taxpayers 900 million dollars over five years.

6. Science has proven that “abstinence-only” programs don’t work. A recent study by Columbia University finds that teens who sign a “virginity until marriage” oath still have premarital sex at a rate (88%) rivaling that of teens who don’t sign a virginity oath. The difference is that virginity oath teens are less likely to use contraception when they have sex.

7. California refuses to accept federal funding for abstinence-only sex education programs in the public schools. California has had a 40% reduction in teen pregnancies over the last 10 years.

8. Pharmacists are beginning to refuse to fill women’s birth control prescriptions if these women are unmarried. These decisions are being supported by local officials.

9. 66 ABC television station affiliates made the decision to cancel the broadcast of the movie “Saving Private Ryan” on Veteran’s Day, because of the frank use of profanity by soldiers during battle scenes. The decision was a result of pressure from the Republican dominated FCC exerted by the Christian fundamentalist members of the party.

10. The Christian fundamentalist members of the Republican party are pushing for sweeping political paybacks for their support of the current administration. These paybacks include stopping stem-cell research, stopping civil rights for gays, and ending reproductive rights for women.

5. We didn't elect * in 2000. Gore won. Our Supreme Court appointed

King George for us. Our newspapers announced that Gore won on Sept. 12, 2001. Think anyone paid attention to that news?

We didn't elect * in 2004. We elected Kerry. Because of massive fraud, King George will remain in the White House.

In 2008 & 2012, the King's brother Jeb Bush will take the throne in Washington.

In 2000 Bush behaved like an usurper, there is no doubt about this point.

But in 2004, he wins with more than 3 million votes in advance. Is it probable that the fraud is enough massive to lead to such a variation? Your democracy is sick, I believe everyone agrees with, but so that the US become a banana republic we will have to wait for four years yet.

The very great learning could be that nothing is for ever. Even a great democracy can break down very quickly.
