1. Here is what ezekiel333 posted elsewhere about this prayer request:

"Please keep Lance Corporal Joshua Mishoe and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Shortly after midnight on March 14 our family's young Marine was involved in a vehicle accident while on combat patrol in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. His Humvee crashed and landed upside down in a canal. Josh was rescesitated after an unknown amount of time in the water and sent to the military hospital in Baghdad. Upon arrival he was suffering from water inhalation and hypothermia. They classified him as Very Seriously Injured (VSI), the most severe casualty assessment which is defined as "Very Seriously Ill or Injured (VSI): A casualty whose illness or injury is of such severity that the member is not medically expected to survive the immediate 24 hours or whose death is presumed to occur within 2 weeks."

"Late on the afternoon of March 18, after hearing nothing for 3 days, we received word that he was being airlifted to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. We received word this morning that Josh is unconscious and on a ventilator, he has been since he arrived in Baghdad. The doctor is making arrangements for his parents to fly to Germany tomorrow. Our entire family is making their way to his parents house today to do whatever we can."

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake,
or watch, or weep tonight,
and give your angels and saints
charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ,
rest your weary ones,
bless your dying ones,
soothe your suffering ones,
pity your afflicted ones
shield your joyous ones.

And all for your love's sake.
Amen.

~St. Augustine

3. Thank you!
Josh's parents arrived in Germany on Monday, he is not doing well and is still listed as VSI. His lungs are swollen and he is fighting an infection. Due to a drop in his blood oxygen level the Landstuhl Medical Center transferred him to a local German hospital for care by their specialists and possible treatment using a lung bypass machine. The German doctors have attached him to a machine that filters CO2 from his blood and are using a special respirator to get his oxygen levels up. If the procedures they are trying are successful he will not need to be put on the full bypass machine that oxygenates the blood as well as filtering it. The full bypass option is very risky and will only be used as a last resort. His parents wish to thank all that are praying for him and asking that they continue to do so as Josh is still fighting a very hard battle.

This is Josh.

4. St. Anthony, please help Josh.
Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 12:17 AM by Cuban_Liberal
Holy Saint Anthony, gentle and powerful in your help, your love for God and charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were always ready to request for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain a healing for your servant, Josh. The answer to my prayer may require a miracle. Even so, you are the Saint of miracles. Gentle and loving Saint Anthony, whose heart is ever full of human sympathy, take my petition to the Infant Savior for whom you have such a great love, and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.

Amen.
