He's gone, and my eulogy
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 03:10 PM by JohnKleeb
RIP John Paul II or Karol Wojitya.
You were a good man, we did not agree on gays, birth control, or abortion but I respect and like you for what you did on poverty, soliditary, the death penalty, etc. You were a smart man with many gifts, you wrote plays, you fought nazi tyranny in Poland. You gave us non-Italian Catholics hope that one of ours can be pope too. Your ability to forgive was extrodinaary, anyone who can forgive a man who tries to kill you, is one hell of a man. You apologized for the silence of the church during the holocaust. You visited the wailing wall in Jeruasalem. You tried to heal the milenia long rifts between us and the eastern orthodox. You were the only pope I knew. Rest in peace good father and meet your creator, now you are one for the ages.

We all say things in the heat of the moment that we later regret.

11. Depart, O Christian soul, out of this world...
...In the name of God the Father Almighty who created you;
In the name of Jesus Christ who redeemed you;
In the name of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you.
May your rest be this day in peace,
and your dwelling place in the Paradise of God.

18. It takes a lot of sand to stand up to the Soviet Union
especially after they tried to kill him in 1981. Yes, it was them. This was just confirmed within the last month. "It not found who commissioned the murder attempt until late March 2005, when documents uncovered from the former Soviet states reveal that the KGB was responsible for setting up the attack." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_John_Paul_II

The holy father peacefully brought down the evil empire. Yes, Pope John Paul II did much more than Ronald Reagan ever did to accomplish that.

Rest in peace eternally Papa.

20. There were many brave few who risked death by
standing up to both the fascist nazis and the USSR. A lot of them happen to be heroes of mine too.

19. Rest in Peace, and you are in a way better place now, Pope John Paul.
Thank you for all your earthly service to us, for now you are among the angels and the saints in Heaven.
