So, I have a new diagnosis.
I have one of the milder bipolar disorders - either cyclothymia or bipolar II. My doctor still needs to figure out which one. It was discovered after two anti-depressant induced agitated manic/hypomanic episodes. On Effexor I really went over the edge - I dropped about 200-300 dollars in one week and the only reason I was sleeping at all was because of my trazodone. My mom's quite pissed at me for overspending at the moment, and I haven't told her about the whole bipolar thing.

I know it's not purely medication induced. I have had hypomanias before while not on any meds at all.

I'm on Klonipin now just to take the edge off the mania while I get off Effexor. Once I'm off the Effexor, they're going to put me on a mood stabilizer.

In a way, it's a relief, but I don't know where to go from here.

1. I know what a relief it can be to finally get a right diagnosis. And try not to be so hard
on yourself about the spending binge. I've done it. One thing I do now is keep all my receipts. Even if I didn't buy it in a manic state, (which has not been the case for a long time thank God), I still keep the receipts because I often find that I have no use for the things I've bought.
