PTSD.....a life full of trauma.....deeply traumatized....like someone put a gun to your head....were words the shrink said.....it sucks

2. Like Mopinko says, those terms hurt when first applied to you.
But there's truth to them in most cases, and nothing to feel ashamed about. My mother (who is a DUer but sadly never really posts) went through a truly tough period when she started to deal with all her past traumas with her shrink. I remember some very odd conversations with her over the phone where I could tell how much must be going through her head. But in the end of that long and clearly painful process she's a much better and healthier person for it.

Just recently I had the PTSD term given to me, only I suspected as much as wasn't surprised or bothered by it. But after seeing my mother I can only imagine how much pain it's causing you (not from the term itself so much, as the realization that it's true), but I hope like her that the end is the same healthier and happier result.
