I just want to hide from politics for awhile.
Yet at the same time I want to find like-minded people. In order to find like-minded people, I have to go to meetings. There are three types of meetings I can go to locally: Democratic Club, Peace Group and a class called "From Violence to Wholeness."

I'm taking the class. I attended the Peace Group vigil and meeting two weeks ago. Tonight the Democratic Club meets and the topic will be Social Security. I want to learn how Emperor Bunnypants plans to kill it, but I scare easily these days. I want to stay positive and that's hard to do when you immerse yourself in politics.

This week I was finally able to get out of bed and work on my apartment some. This is a huge victory. It came with a price, though: my spine feels like it's trying to claw its way out of my body. I have herniated discs in my neck and (probably) my lumbar area.

I don't want to go and end up so depressed I can't function, yet I'd like to get to know more of the local folks who aren't completely bonkers for Bush.

What would you do?

1. Those 3 meeting places sound good to me!
Go to meet the people, and do NOT focus on the negative message coming from the political situation and this administration.....

Go to talk about this stuff, but protect yourself from imagining the most negative outcomes possible....know what I mean?

Congrats on your huge victory in working on your apartment....I can relate to this well....:-)
Pace yourself, though, especially for your back - do it at your most comfy pace.

Good to hear that you are positively busy, Ladyhawk.
Way to go!

2. I sure understand
It's like an adiction that makes you aggitated ,knowing is so hard when so many people seem to be clueless to anything but thier comfort zone.Sometimes it seems like taking the wieght of the world on your shoulders.I promiss you if you tune out from the politics, you won't miss much of the rehash and bickering, you can come here to keep up on the issues but stuff just seems to get worse everyday and you are probably sensitive to alot of pain and suffering in the world. You will never be able to be a dumbed down robot, but this knowledge we face of the world coming unglued is a hard thing to deal with.
Try getting into reading something completely devoid of current events or about bad human tricks.I know how you feel,an I.V. drip of thorazine couldn't turn off the pain in the world right now.

3. You do understand jdots.
On top of the herniated discs, diabetes, major depression, OCD and PTSD, the horrible state of the world is just too much. I haven't kept up on what's going on. I popped into GD and I have no idea what the Gannon issue is all about. I know the weed wants to dismantle SS, but I don't know how.

God, I hurt. I worked two days on the apartment and I've been in a constant state of migraines ever since. I had two hours today that were relatively free of pain and this peace just settled over me. It was enough to just not be in physical pain. Damn herniated discs.

Someone come over and give me a massage.
