If you haven't finished HBP, don't read this
but I have come to the conclusion that Dumbledore isn't dead

re-read the funeral scene, when Hagrid brings up the body, it's engulfed in flames, and Harry thinks he sees a phoenix flying off

I'll bet you that the phoenix is Dumbledore

1. True dat.
But--what of the new portrait of Dumbledore in the Headmaster's office? But I agree that the wrapped (unseen) body engulfedin flames & the phoenix flying is remarkably similar to Dumbledore's escape from Umbridge when she tried to get him arrested in GoF.

3. the new portrait isn't up and running yet
and we know that Dumbledore is a very powerful wizard--who knows what he can do

portraits aren't always of dead people--the photos in the Daily Prophet move as well

2. Well since JKR hasn't written Book 7
she kept the options open. I do believe by the end of Book 7 Dumbledore will be dead as a door nail. There will/should be a long time gap covering the life spans of the Big Threee and what becomes of them afterwards. Truly wonder if Book 7 will use a retrospective format of a much older Harry or if he doesn't survive, an older Hermione or Ron.

But Dumbledore will have more of a legacy to complete be it in the spiritual form or the earthly reality in Book 7.

1 year, 11 months and oh say 18 Days left...

4. HE BETTER BE DEAD!!! If not I'll feel soooooooo
manipulated!

I mean c'mon! Would Dumbledore really be that much of an asshole to put everyone through that? I'm sure he really would rather die.
