What does your boggart look like?
Mine would probably be a spider like Ron's. They creep me out.

1. Mine would look like John Howard.
I really can't bear to look at him or listen to him. He makes me ill.

2. A boggart takes the form of what you most fear...
Not what you most loathe.

3. A hornet or yellow-jacket bee. Probably from a childhood trauma
I SAT on one when I was 6 years old.

4. I put a wasps' nest in my shirt when I was six
I know the feeling!

(It seemed like the right thing to do at the time :) )

5. A place where Rowling got it wrong, IMO
What we fear most isn't a thing, like snakes (my personal boggart moment, under the rules). But, under the boggart rules, a boggart takes the form of what you most fear.

I know that I, and most people I know, fear the loss of something (SOMEONE) the most. My best friend would die if he lost his wife; most of the kids I know fear losing their parents almost exclusively; I, personally, have nightmares about losing my daughter.

6. You don't think that's the message of maturity?
The kids are afraid of things, but Mrs Weasley and even Lupin are afraid more of concepts: the death of family members, loss of control... even Harry's boggart shows that he is afraid of fear itself.

12. Okay - being serious.
I would most fear loss or harm being done to my children.

7. But Rowling did get that right....
If you'll remember in book 5 what Mrs Weasley's boggart was. The loss of her family.

8. My ex-husband.
I'm not afraid of much; I don't really do fear. If I thought of the one thing I really don't want to confront, it would be him.

The question is, what would I do to make him ridiculous?

fruity hat? And don't forget the platform sandals!

I'm afraid of flying, REALLY HATE IT, so I guess my bogart would turn into a commercial jet? Or would it turn into a pilot?

10. Ahem.
My ex is a pilot. He got to realize that life long dream because I gave him some flying lessons, and agreed to sacrifice the budget for him to finish.

Now YOU picture my ex, sitting in the cockpit, with the little sundress and hat....

Oops. That may not make you feel any more secure! I don't really like flying. It's not fear, but a dose of claustrophobia and motion sickness.

Perhaps you could picture your feet on a nice solid rock inside that plane, or picture that plane carried by a soft, pillowy but substantial cloud...

11. Wow, some weird synchronicity there! Or maybe not....The thing
about flying that I fear is that I'm up in the air. I'm one of those flyers who holds the plane up by gripping the armrests. If I go to the john, I have to hurry up to get back and grab those armrests!

13. I think after working Katrina relief so long now, my boggart
would look like storm surge. Hurricane winds don't scare me as much as the stories of the rapidly rising water!

a fear of my courage failing when I most need it. I never think I have a big enough supply of courage. Failing myself is what it comes down to and that is a really awful boggart. :scared:

Either that or being alone.... Well, boggarts are pretty creative. I'm sure they'd think of something.
