Let's play a Harry Potter game!!!! (probable spoilers)
I love Rowling, but I will freely admit that she has paid homage to a wide slice of Western literature and film, hence the game. :D Hell, even if she hasn't "paid homage," it should be entertaining to think of similar scenes or devices in other works. :D

The questioner (me, for the first post) names a book or film, and the responder names a Harry Potter scene that is similar to a scene in the book or film.

There may be more than one right answer for each question.

First question: The Shining.

1. The Shining:
Any scene where Harry witnesses through telepathy Voldemort torturing and killing people. Danny in The Shining was another boy who psychically witnessed awful things happening.

6. Couldn't it also be the maze?
There are mazes in crucial scenes in both The Shining and The Goblet of Fire.

19. Yes!
A classic example of romantic comedy.

Honestly, I would never have seen it coming if someone didn't clue me into it as I was reading Goblet of Fire. :dunce:

9. The horcrux diary.
Easily as deadly as the ink in The Name of the Rose.

Also, the mentor relationship between the monk and his appretice mirrors Dumbledore and Harry, somewhat.

23. It's been 20 years since I read Name of the Rose.
I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night, never mind the last few chapters of a fictional book read so many years ago! :)

5. I will try,
but there are simply way too many films I haven't seen. Or I haven't seen them in years and have only a fuzzy recollection of them.

I'll lurk until I see something familiar, lol.
