Comments Welcome--digitally enhanced photo art
The original photo was taken with a 35mm basic Nikon camera using a 400 fast film. The tea kettle is from the 1700s. I was in the Caribbean, and went to visit a place called Seven Arches on St. John's Island. The place is owned by this older couple. It was originally a slave quarters, and after they bought it they found many artifacts, including this kettle.

Your comments...please :hi:
(I will have to go back through my CD photo collection from that trip to be able to post the original, so don't ask for it here...thanks!)

1. That's very pretty, Whoa_Nelly
At first I was going to suggest lightening it up a little, but on second thought, I think I like it dark. I'm going to have to learn how to do some of this digital manipulation (ooh, that sounds almost obscene ). I tend to be kind of a minimalist as far as processing goes, but this looks fun.

2. It does look kind of dark, but
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 03:49 PM by Whoa_Nelly
that's due to the art program I used, and was aiming for actually enlarging it to a canvas to use as art in my home...all part of a bistro type kitchen I was planning. However, that home didn't happen, but will still find a use for it maybe in the new patio area of the home am buying :)

Here it is in two different lightened adjustments:
(I think I like no.2 better)

3. I like your first one better
And can you just bet that there's a lot of lead in that wonderful tea kettle?

5. Very nice. I downloaded the image and played with it a bit.
Any changes I made were just gilding the lilly. The only change I found acceptable was a bit of sharpening and some film grain. It made it appear more 3D, and gave it more of a painting feel. But then it was no improvement on what you did, and was one filter over the line.

Knowing what to do is important, knowing when to stop is even more important. Your picture is terrific the way it is. The lighting was a nice touch.

7. Thanks for your kind words
Am going to have to find the CDs that have more pics taken on the Caribbean trip. I got some great shots in. :hi:

9. I could use some of the warm Caribbean weather.
I'm looking forward to your other images.

6. Almost missed this, see what happens when
life interferes. Great pic, though I like the #2 in the lightened set best. Brings out some more detail and gives it a bit of a pop, for lack of a better way to explain myself.

8. Pop works! LOL
The whole point of the digital art play I did with this was to achieve just that, and to try to create a pic I could have transferred to canvas.

Thanks! :hi:
