Can one use steganography to ID
online photos? It seems as though it could be used to settle claims of ownership.

4. Thanks. I was wondering
if the info could be overwritten or altered.

2. What does that mean?
I usually crop my photos down a little bit before posting them on the internet to prove I own the original.

3. steganography is
embedding information in an image. It's a good way to hide things.

5. This is why I prefer film.
To prove ownership.

I also prefer film because digital information is only as good as the reader technology. If someone or a virus were to wipe out my computer, or if in the future a better but non-compatible digital imaging system replaces how we see digital images, I will still have my negatives to prove ownership--and the images will still be readable with nothing more technical than the sun.
