Last night's sunset
Here's a little sunset shot I took last night while I was running around looking for green architecture. :) I didn't even have to PaintShop this one ... straight from the camera to you.

1. That's really quite nice. Good composition and textures.

Other than a very slight tilt, that's suitable for framing, imho.

2. I know, I have a hell of a time with those tilts...
...and I didn't have the tripod with me. The camera's a little on the large size and hard to hold completely steady when there's a horizon to deal with.

3. Well, it's only 1-2°, if that.
Edited on Fri Mar-18-05 03:08 PM by TahitiNut
The further shore on the left should be only a smidge above horizontal. The light band of water between the far shore and the reflection of the far shore should be bisected by a horizontal line. Thus, only a clockwise rotation of about 1-2° at most would seem necessary, imho. I sure don't get 'em level either. I think the refection is what makes it more evident to the human eye (with the help of a digital computer monitor) when displayed than in the viewfinder.

4. I see what you're saying.
It probably doesn't help that I have astigmatism either. I have the same problem seeing a level horizon as I do hitting a softball. :) It's never where I think it is.

8. is astigmatism what causes that?
My astigmatism has been corrected (Lasik) but I'm still bad about the "tilt."

Anyway, what a spectacular sunset.

9. Did the Lasik work good?
I really don't know if it's the astigmatism that causes the tilt or not. It just seemed like a good excuse. :)

6. Other than that very slight tilt which can be easily adjusted -
when aligning the mat to the photo just before framing, eh?

I don't think it detracts from the photo myself but I'm just an enthusiast not a pro. :hi:

7. Yep. I'm no 'pro'... far from it.
Just the typical nit-picker.

5. What a beautiful image!
I love the reflection of the purple mountains in the water, the contrast of the warm/cool colors and that little bit of light on the snow in the foreground (especially that).
Thanks for posting! :hi:

10. I bet the sunrise there is amazing. All pink and baby blue. You look
like break up has reached you.

11. Well, I THOUGHT we had breakup...
...but today is just cold and windy, cloudy, and I'm bummed. At least the weather was good for the peace demonstration on Saturday.
