Ice Moving Down the Chicago River

My first contribution to the DU Photography Group.

Taken this past winter.

It sure was windy and cold standing in the middle of the bridge to take that photo. :)

1. The Michigan or Dearborn(?) Avenue Bridge over the Chicago River ...
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 11:28 AM by TahitiNut
... is the coldest place I've ever been in February. I once spent 4 weeks in Chicago in Feburay, staying at the Mariott (or Hyatt?) and working on Wacker, on opposite sides of the river. Too close for taxi, I walked. And froze. Those were the coldest walks I've ever taken.

definitely the coldest I've ever been! I thought my camera was going to freeze to my hand. :)

3. An excellent first post!
The shapes of the flows on the rippled water and the quality of the light is beautiful. What kind of camera did you use, film, or digital?

Welcome to the Photography Group, Placebo! :hi:

4. Thanks intheflow!
I really only use digital these days.

Weapon of choice:

Canon PowerShot G5

5. I would have never thought digital with that shot.
It's so clear and detailed. And then, I'm kind of a film snob, so a nice digital is bound to play to my film bias. ;)

I have a Powershot A85. I can't really complain because I got it for free, but I'll complain anyway that I am not very happy with the quality of the pictures. Maybe the G5 is a more upscale model. I'll have to check it out.

BTW, Placebo, I love that graphic. Cracks me up every time I see it. Is it a specific founding father?

6. HeHe...
I love it.

Not a founding father though, it's by an artist named Banksy. He smuggled it into a museum and it took them 3 days to realize it was hanging on their walls!
