***PHOTO THAT CAPTION CHALLENGE - DEC 3 THROUGH 9***
Edited on Sun Dec-03-06 08:48 PM by blueraven95
Its a new week and time for a new challenge. I've decided that the little flame by the thread lends distinction so snap away!

WEEK 2

New Challenge:
"What is that thing?!?"

This is challenge series based on creativity. Everything and anything is okay as long as it is loosely based on the caption and is your own work (and doesn't break any DU rules). Other than that, have fun and get your imagination pumping. As discussed extreme processing is allowed. Also, feel free to post multiple pictures.

Discussion is heavily encouraged.

Required legal stuff:
CHALLENGE LICENSE:

An entrant to this challenge, by submitting a photograph, is giving permission for that photograph to be copied to Demopedia and/or to a linked Gallery that will display the photographs entered for this contest for the purpose of publicizing future contests and/or commemorating current and past contests. The entrant retains all other rights to the photograph being submitted. Neither Demopedia and/or a linked Gallery may use any photograph submitted for any purpose other than to display the photograph being submitted by the entrant, and neither gains any real or implied ownership rights to the photograph.

An entrant can disclaim this Challenge License and retain all rights to the photograph. If an entrant wishes to disclaim the Challenge License they must include the following statement in the post containing their photograph; "I disclaim the Challenge License, and reserve all rights to my photograph" Any photograph submitted by an entrant with this disclaimer statement will not be copied and displayed in Demopedia and/or any linked Gallery.

I was going to enter this as my tis the season thing but I figured the meaning would be lost on those that don't live where it snows.

My snap above is through the window of the F'mobile during the tri-color foam cycle when all this strange stuff gets dumped on your vehicle. You basically had it nailed with "suds"... sorta' kinda'.

The second is actually a piece of stained glass at Chicago's Navy Pier's stained glass exhibit. It's made from broken soda bottles. The title of the piece? "Pop Art." :)

50. Looks like one of those "camera toss" photos
that were popular on Flickr a while back, where you set your camera for a slow shutter speed, click, then throw your camera in the air. Not doing that with mine!!

But as I look at it more, it looks first of all like it's sideways, and then the rings appear to be fire, but the source of the fire I don't know.

57. Spot on, though your eye is better than mine as I can't
distinguish the person even though I took this recently. A young man had fire at the end of two ropes at night and was swinging them for all he was worth. I was trying to capture motion as I'm very new at this; I may have turned the camera for a different perspective. Here's another fellow at the same venue-he was running an electric sander over a metal chestplate to produce this effect:

68. This is a slit of light distorted through a tequila bottle
I was just playing around one day, took an empty bottle of tequila (Chinaco Añejo, of course!) because it's hand-blown and curvy. Set it in front of a window, set the blinds so that just little slits of light shown. Set my Olympus compact camera on macro setting and took a few shots.

In Photoshop I cropped way down to just this one sliver of light, converted to black and white, and increased the contrast quite a bit.

What possessed me to do this, I don't know. Maybe it was the tequila!
