Not contest-worthy, but wild nonetheless
A little fox hanging out down by Fish Creek, kind of a rare sight around here. I think he had his eye on a couple of ducks in the reeds, but when more people showed up on the trail, he ran off up the stream.

1. Why is it not worthy?
I think it is great right down to looking almost like a black and white except for the fox's bright coat. I love it.

2. It just seems kind of fuzzy to me

The light was low, the fox was moving and I had my 70-300 lens all the way out, so it was hard to get a sharp shot. I decided to use one of my "sheep shots" instead for the contest. It's called "On the Edge" and I think it kind of represents where we are as a country right now. I hope we can all be nimble like the Dall sheep and make it to the green meadows. :) We've been stuck out here on the rocks for too long.

6. They amaze me how they get around up there,
Edited on Thu May-15-08 01:22 PM by Blue_In_AK
especially the little ones who haven't had a chance to practice much. Their moms must start them out really slowly. It would so cool to just hang out with them for a year or so and see how they do it.

7. Hard to tell if they are started
out slowly or just born with the balance needed. It is neat, though I have only seen them climbing around on tv but figure it has to be as neat as watching bighorns climb the rockies.

4. I like it too
Crop it a bit differently and it can be a great picture I think. Depends on if the original resolution allows for it ofc.

8. Fox are so shy, I am surprised you got that close....
I saw one last week, but it was too far away and I didn't have the Canon with me. Ours always run away before you can get too close. They have big bushy black and red tails.

9. It looks closer than it is
This was at 300 mm focal length. I probably wouldn't have even seen it, but HullBoss has sharper eyes than I and pointed it out.
