Want to buy a printer for nothing but snapshots. Is there one out

there that automatically corrects minor density/contrast issues?

I've got the semi-pro Epson R-1800 and it does great after I tweak the images--I routinely underexpose 2/3 stop to preserve highlights then bump the shadows.

I'm hoping to find something I can just dump family snaps into and get reasonable results in album type prints

Kodak Easyshare 5300 all in one.

Haven't run much through it, but the results were dead on color accurate (compared to my calibrated monitor). Printing is cheap as well...buy the "4x6 kits" (color ink cart and 180 sheets 4x6 glossy paper for under $18 msrp at most mass merchant stores. If you use it with Kodak paper (from the kits), it reads the backside to determine paper type and auto adjusts it's ICC profile to match. This model adds a color LCD and built in card readers so even the camera or your computer aren't needed. You can adjust color, brightness, contrast, etc. as well as crop, rotate and zoom right on the printer. List is $199, I picked up mine at Sam's for $99...it does pay to shop around.

Mine doesn't have a lot of adjustments that can be made, but what it does have, it does well. Newer models have more capabilities. Pictures are fine quality. You would never think they were developed in a little thing like this. It's very compact, can be used as a stand-alone, or hooked up to the computer.

I recently found one of the older models (new in sealed box) on eBay to buy as a gift for $60 including shipping. Refill kits are around $40 for 150 4x6 pics, but can be found on sale if you look.
