Down by the creek, an Autostich non-panorama..
Edited on Mon Mar-23-09 11:09 PM by Fumesucker
It turns out that Autostitch can very nicely emulate a much wider lens than you have on your camera, witness this shot of a small creek I found while driving down the road today.. Turned around and pulled off and shot about thirty five frames quickly just kind of waving the camera around in a semi coherent manner then stitched them all together and cropped out the part I wanted..

This is fun and easy..

4. I'm planning on going back and shooting it in a few weeks, when it's all green..
I'll try and get the same vantage point..

Nice shot, BTW, we don't often get snow around here though.

3. I come here, and I see what both you guys have posted, and my mind is now blown.
I'm off to piece it back together with a good night's sleep.
A large nod of appreciation to both of you !!!!!!

5. I have a really cool shot in mind that I'll be able to finish sometime in the next few days..
Kind of a time lapse thing..

I'm pretty sure you'll like it if I can pull it off like I think I can.

7. I know exactly what you mean
I'm starting to feel totally inadequate compared to the talent around here.

9. I first picked up an SLR 44 years ago..
I was 15 and in an enrichment program for "gifted" kids, they loaned us a Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic and a few lenses, gave us a bunch of Tri-X and access to a darkroom.

In my case it's not so much talent as a lot of practice and a somewhat obsessive nature.

11. That does make me feel somewhat better
However, I still have a lot learn before I can even be in the company of you and others on this forum.

8. Dang. I love this.
I've been quietly appreciating your panos, but this one is something really special. Which reminds me, I have a people pano I wanted to post and forgot about. Off to find it.

10. Wow, thanks..
My eye for what makes a good shot is getting better, I've come to look at everything through the lens in my mind these days, I left my damn pocketcam at home again today when we went to the mall and sure as hell, there was a great sunset when we came out.. Had a spot of rainbow off to one side.. Kicked myself once again.

Having a group to share with makes a huge difference

12. You're exactly right.
The feedback and inspiration here have been way more useful to me than any of the photo forums I'm on. There's a unique mix here of pros, semi-pros, beginners, and knowledgeable amateurs all willing to share their insight and opinions in a very civil way. It's been hugely important to me as I undertake more paid photo gigs to keep up with what's posted here. Absolutely the best part of DU, and I'm one of those fools who still loves this site in general, as nuts as it often is. The Photography Group feels like home to me.

Thanks for everything you've posted here. It's been inspirational.
