1. you got some really nice dynamic range out of that shot
The blacks aren't too black, the clouds aren't all blown out, you can see blue in the sky but still resolve the nice oranges and reds in the rocks. It's a really nice shot.

12. You caught the clouds hanging in the sky!
What a gorgeous picture. Every detail is perfect, the rock against that beautiful blue, the hints f green sage, the road; but I especially love that you caught the hanging clouds.

Just a little bit of sharpening brings out some nice detail in the rock formations.

Did you get the sky naturally, or did you use a polarizing filter?

16. This one simply came out that way. No filter, nothing special. If you encourage
me any further, would you believe I have many many many more?

21. I'll be there in two weeks
Although I'm just going to fly over in my plane and take some photos from the air. I hope to also get some of the volcano craters in the area, Lake Powell, and perhaps the Grand Canyon. I'm just passing through on a trip from TX to CA, but I'll be spending the night in Page, AZ so I can do some aerial sightseeing in the morning.

22. You are pulling my string in a major way, MajorChode. Page Arizona, to me, is
a Paradise of sorts, I was there two years ago, and still mourn it's "passing".
Is there any way at all possible you could stay grounded long enough to see the Antelope Canyon? I will send you photo of the Canyon and it will convince you to make it possible.
Or two photos.
The Glen Canyon Dam is another thing not to miss, and park your plane for. I promise. Photos of that, also, are yours for the asking :)
You made me happy for you just thinking you'll be there.
Linger.

23. This is really just a recon trip
Our ultimate destination is CA. Stopping in Page is actually just an afterthought. When flying a small plane out west, you usually take either the "northern route" which is more or less due west from Albuquerque, or you take the "southern route" which is via El Paso. I had originally planned to take the southern route, until I realized the northern route is just much more scenic due to the high desert areas you fly over and the interesting terrain that goes with it.

Page is not really all that far from me in the big scheme of things. I can make it there with only one fuel stop or about 6 hours. So I definitely plan on going back soon, perhaps in the fall, but if not then next summer for sure. I'm just trying to prime the pump for now so we can return some other time when we can stay long enough to have a proper visit.
