Some birds really thrive amidst civilization
Particularly if there is a birdfeeder nearby!

Front, back, left, and right

"Pecking Order" derivation

Need a perch? A water hookup will do

One above, one below

Proof that same electrical thingie contains a bird nest!

Chain link Fence Number One

Chain link Fence Number Two

Not so welcome at the boat dock!

Funny way to imitate a penguin by landscape rocks and deck

2. I can't spell the sounds I'm making, but they are HIGH delight sounds.
They are utterly wonderful and tell such a number of tales.
Do you know what the yellow, canary looking ones are?

Ilove them all but on top are the yellows, and the blue bird, and the general tale of the whole thing.
Thank you. You spiced up my Sunday afternoon.

3. the bluebird pic inspired the theme
Then finding the blackbird nest in the electrical thingie sealed the deal. Anyway, it is the only way I can post bird pics without (eke) comparisons to Maestro--he likes "natural".

That tiny little yellow bird is a goldfinch, I think. I never see them anywhere except that feeder. It is because they are so tiny I just don't notice them. I had to hide out on some RV's patio to get the pictures (owners weren't there). If I wasn't behind a bush they flew away.

Bluebirds are ridiculously common there, way more than cardinals for instance, and I never see them in town.

There were tons of people there and they were all wanting to talk birds with me. I guess I was a little bit conspicuous. Funny, since I know so little.

5. I thought they were going to be pigeon pics. Ha!
I was noticing this weekend when walking past some new high-rise construction that the pigeons had already flocked to it. Lots of restaurants around that block, too, so they have plenty of food to scavenge.

The bluebird is nice. Something I never see down here.

9. What kind of bird is that "penguin"?
It looks a bit like a jay, but I've never seen one that colour.

10. I just looked all the way through my new bird book
Maybe an eastern kingbird? It seems to look like it, and the place fit the description of where they live--in clearings near trees, often found around water.

I thought he looked like a penguin, though. ;)
