Marigold fun
This is my first attempt at macro on the D70. I had hoped for a nice overcast day today, but the clouds didn't cooperate and decided to be scattered instead. Even in the shade I had to diffuse the sunlight with a bit of cheesecloth.

1. Marigolds are such humble little flowers,
but so beautiful when you come in close. I didn't know that trick about the cheesecloth, but I'll remember it because my yellows are often blown out. Thanks for the tip. :)

2. Cheesecloth works great for macro stuff
It's cheap and you can double it up if you need to in order to reduce the sunlight even more.

Another trick I do is to use plain paper or card stock as a reflector. It doesn't work as well as a real photography reflector, but sometimes you just need a little bit of light on the shadow side. You can also use two pieces of paper to bounce the on camera flash where you need it.
