Night of the Horse
From the Del Mar National Horse Show's Night of the Horse, 2008. The horse on the left was a steel topiary frame and the shadow on the right was from a huge wooden sculpture's shadow.

1. Oh, wow. The shadow is fantastic.
More powerful imagery than the actual horse. Seems like it's the unbridled spirit of the horse. And the sepia tone really adds mystery. Feels like a colorized still from a silent movie or photo from the era.

:hi: By the way, Del Mar? Del Mar in San Diego County? If so, I'm just a hop, skip and a jump in Fallbrook. I'm not a photographer, just a nosy, butinsky lover of the art.

2. Yep, that's the one!
I'm the Equestrian Marketing Coordinator for the DMNHS. Next year come to the night of the horse -- even if you aren't a horse lover there is much to love about the evening! Fallbrook? Are you the only lefty there? :)

6. Hello, Vista!
:hi: Neighbor. Talk about a hop, skip and jump. I take it you love the Padres and starting your adorable baby early at Petco. Too cute.

8. Oh, the Padres...
We love going to their games and it's great to get in for $5/head and sit on a grassy hill with other families for kids to play while still having a nice view of the field. It just seems so far from Vista; one corner to the other... :)

9. To me, that is far.
I go weekly to see after my parents in the Kensington/Normal Heights area around Mission Valley and can never get use to the drive. Hope you're not too into the Chargers because it looks like they're going ahead with the Chula Vista stadium plans. Now, that's really far. California is just so doggone vast! :) Your photo is very charming, it's such a treat checking out how other DUers experience the same hometown environs.

5. I love horses! and go to the
races with my brother-in-law, who calls himself Del Mar Dave because he loves the place so much! I never knew of the night of the horses and will plan to attend! Especially having an invite from the Equestrian Marketing Coordinator. How cool is that? :)
