As the clouds moved in a lot faster on Saturday afternoon than had been predicted, ending my plans to try shooting the sunset at Larribee Beach while I was halfway to that location, I shifted to "Plan B" and headed to the foothills around Mount Baker to catch
Nooksack Falls.
Not much to say about this waterfall, except to say that the Forest Service has heavily fenced the cliffs around the falls and posted large "DANGER" signs all over, including in some places that would have made excellent vantage points without the ****in' signs in the way. Even more annoyingly, they have a display of a few faded photos at the trailhead, along with text that reads something like "Without endangering your life, you could not hope to get photographs of this waterfall that compare with those of our
professional photographers. So, why don't you simply enjoy the photographs we have provided for you here instead?"
Does the term "waving a red flag in front of a bull" mean anything to you? :nuke:
I'll just say that I risked neither life nor equipment to get these photos, and I think they compare quite well with those of the Forest Service's
professional photographers, thank you very much.
As I was driving out of the trail access road, I spotted a little creek winding through the forest. Ironically, it was a more difficult climb to get down to the creek bed than to get to my vantage point of the falls, but I think it was worth it.
