Okay, I am coming clean
The squirrel and hawk are stuffed.
I was wondering if anyone would notice.
I did intentionally spin the camera a little to make the hawk look like he had motion blur. So there was effort involved. Also had to vary the light to kill the background... the ceiling of the museum.
This was an experiment to see if we could make some of the better stuffed things look more alive.

Did I succeed?

Apologies to those who are offended.

1. I did not suspect this at all!
Nor am I offended...

I think it was damnably clever!

I just kept wondering how in HELL you got that shot!

They did NOT look stuffed at all, at least to me!

Major kudos!

:applause: :applause:

2. Thank you for the explanation. I'm neither offended nor disappointed, the
shot fooled me, except I had a funny feeling...that I am missing something, but I did not know what.
You are such a pro.
I bet you feel better now that you came clean.

3. No offense here.
Love that you waited to tell us and left it to us to "see". Also it might explain why the squirrel that shows up here suddenly had a bald/raw spot on his back. Between the Red-tailed hawk pair behind the neighbor's and the Cooper's hawk behind my house it is a chance that the squirrel was almost lunch.

6. I actually DID see it once!
Right in my front yard -Red Tail took one of two squirrels that were playing & chasing each other ..plucked one right off the pine tree branch they were running along and kept right on flying- never missed a wing beat...2nd squirrel was completely befuddled.looking all around for his buddy. I was speechless.

Another reason I was confounded by your photo- that bird didn't look big enough.......was it just a sharpie??

9. I have been trying to figure out how you caught that image.
With the lighting on the squirrel, I was racking my brain picturing you getting the flash off at just the right moment and angle. It got me. And, I have seen the display many times.   I worked at the Nature Center for a summer.

10. Very good! That's the difference between MAKING a picture and
TAKING a picture. There's a time and place for both but far too few people take the time to make things happen or arrange things when they have the opportunity.
