On reviewing this month's entries, I found that three of them were 1,024 pixels in the longest dimension. Guidelines of the contest have always asked that entrants try to restrict their entries to no larger than 800 pixels. While this is not a hard-and-fast rule, I always understood it to mean that, if you had to go a bit larger in one dimension (say, to enter a panorama), it would be O.K., but simply going to the next largest "screen size" was somewhat more questionable.
After consulting with blueraven95, we both decided that those three images need to be resized to 800 pixels in order to be included. Accordingly, I have sent PMs to each of the three photographers with that request. (If you've entered the contest, please check your Inbox.) Also, the posting of the preliminaries will be delayed until the resized images have been resubmitted, or until Friday morning, at the latest. (If the latter case, I will probably just cut the length of each round from three days to two.)
Sorry for the inconvenience, but both blueraven95 and I decided that allowing much larger entries would amount to giving some contestants a substantial advantage (since people tend to be more impressed by larger images). And, as Mrs. Slocombe might put it, we are unanimous in that!
