Seasons change ...
Summer is definitely winding down here. Fall colors will probably be at their peak next week, but since we've got rain forecast for the next 15 days, we decided to take a road trip down onto the Kenai Peninsula yesterday to take advantage of what could be our last sunny day before all the leaves are gone.

We stopped at the footbridge over Six Mile Creek, a class 5 river which is a favorite of local rafters.

Fireweed is spent. Here is the promise of next summer's fields of pink.

This is Tern Lake with the weather front moving in from the Gulf of Alaska.

I like this little window of color. The only thing that would have made it better is if the swans were still around, but we didn't see a one. I think they've probably already headed south.

1. Always so beautiful, Blue.
We're currently saving money for a car trip to the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, which my husband really, really wants to do, and I'm okay with that, even though I wish it were a trip to Alaska. (Sigh)

2. Those are beautiful places, too,
but I'm sure you'll make your way up here sooner or later. Visualize it and make it so. :)

3. Sigh.....wonderful fall feeling.
Thank you for sharing.

but..rain for the next *15* days??????

Now I remember why I left the Pac. NW.
Not the rain so much, as the cloud cover.

Makes you appreciate the sunny days, tho, doesn't it?

4. It does make you appreciate the sunny days,
and, in fact, it appears that the forecasters were somewhat wrong because today is beautiful. We probably won't be taking any more road trips this week (because my dear husband is busy building me a greenhouse for next spring :) ), but I may get out for a walk along one of our city trails. I love the fall, it's my favorite season.
