5. It's a remarkable cemetery,
with tomb lined lanes amid beautiful trees-a real necropolis.

Not spooky though, like La Recoleta in Buenos Aires. :scared:

I was lucky to visit Père Lachaise at this time of year on such a beautiful evening.

:hi:

2. Oh - the history of the place just staring at us.
Each one is a treasure. The light play is fantastic, and the little boy in picture one shows us how life goes on.
The movement in that shot is marvellous.
Cemeteries are a treasure to visit, even without a camera.
(don't want to imagine it, though)

6. Indeed!
It's remarkable how many artists, writers and musicians are buried there-Chopin, Oscar Wilde, Sarah Bernhardt, Seurat, Maria Callas, Balzac, Edith Piaf, Jim Morrison, Stephane Grapelli, Delacroix, Rossini, Proust, Max Ernst, Moliere, Cherubini, and Isadora Duncan, to name only some!

I didn't go looking for famous graves this time though. I'll have to come another time for that.

Thanks Mira, I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures! :hi:

I did come across the composer Luigi Cherubini's tomb.

7. Reading the list of names gave me the chills. All my
little hairs are still standing up.

Have fun in Paris.
Alors, la vie est rose.

12. NOOOOOOOOO
I honestly have no idea where that is, so now I have to go learn something when I'm already so old and tired.

What a life!
Making music, making chips, making G O R G E O U S pictures, and making tracks.
Love it.
I'm with you in spirit.

13. I was listening to
Rick Steve's radio program on NPR last week and they were talking about how the best places to see art outside a museum in Europe is to visit the very old cemeteries.

14. I was so taken with many of these that I overlooked how good the first one is.
And the more I look at it now, the more I love it. Next to that, #6 is a standout, wonderfully serene.
