If you will indulge me... (dial-up warning)
Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 01:37 AM by blueraven95
With one thing or another, it's been a really long time since I've had any energy to photograph anything...but when my sister - the one who used to hide whenever a camera came out - asked me shoot her, I couldn't resist.

I hope you don't mind me sharing some of my favorites. I'd love to hear what you think; I'm certainly rusty, but it felt so good to be holding a camera again. :hi:

Peeking

This last one didn't come out right...but I still liked it, so I threw photoshop filters at it and decided to file it under extreme post-processing:

1. Great shots...
...she's gorgeous and very photogenic.

I like #1 and #3 the best. #1 is interesting because usually a portrait that cuts off part of the face doesn't work, yet this one works and has great composition. And that smile in #3 is just glowing!

2. Nice portraits, BlueRaven.
I really like the first one, too. Your sister's cute.

3. These are outstanding...
As someone whose forté is definitely not portraiture, I must admit to being very impressed by anyone who can capture the essence of a person instead of just a snapshot.

And, although your sister may not be thrilled by this, the one that really blew me away was the rim-lit silhouette. If she ever puts out a CD, I could definitely see that as an album cover.

4. These are, she is, simply beautiful. You completely "caught" who she is, I think,
because suddenly I think I know her.

Lovely crops, startling choices, and it all works.

Congratulations, keep that camera handy. You got stuff to teach us.

5. Wonderful pics
I especially like #3 and the sillouette.

I don't think I've ever been able to take a decent portrait as much as I've tried. My family just makes faces at me whenever I ask to take some pics of them. Sigh. Perhaps I would be more successful if I had more cooperative subjects. You sister looks like she was enjoying this.

6. I'm so glad you shared these. They're great.
Bold decisions, daring compositions, and emotional depth. If I had to choose a favorite, I'd concur with regnaD kciN about the silhouette. As striking as the others are, that one really jumps off the screen. I hope your sister loves these. I certainly do!

7. Wonderful!
These are great shots. I really like #5. I feel a witness to her seeing something joyful. Also, the silhouette has an ethereal feel. I love her ease in front of the camera. Inspiring work, thank you for sharing!

8. thank you, you guys, for all your kind comments

It's hard to imagine that not that long ago, she would freeze up in front of a camera and I could barely get anything out of her...I'm really thrilled to have a willing model again :woohoo:
