As I stepped out for a cup of coffee this afternoon, guess who I ran into? A group of Olympic protesters was gathering nearby and marched down the road to the arena. Since there didn't seem to be any media present, I guess this is a DU exclusive. They made a short speech to the spectators lining up at the venue, asking them to enjoy the sports but not forget about the poor, the homeless, and the downtrodden who are largely silent and excluded from the Games. The spectators were slightly bemused but didn't seem to mind the distraction from waiting in line. Some expressed support for the protests, as long as they don't turn violent. Here's a few pictures.
There are legal observers present at every protest/march/demonstration. They record everything, including me recording them recording the police recording the demonstrators who have their own cameras recording everything in a giant mobius loop of audio visuals.

ps. If you're wondering what happened to days 2-4, I have lots of photos but haven't sorted through them yet. If there's anything worth showing, I'll post them over the next couple of days.
