Another view of a northwest archetype...
Edited on Sat Aug-06-05 03:50 AM by regnaD kciN
Rainier and Enumclaw farm

If the contest subject had been "red," I might have decided to be counterintuitive and submit this photo.

Although it might also work with no color at all...

1. Nice composition!
The barn-shed echoes the mountain-foothills very nicely. And the trees also. A very effective photo.

5. Wanted to thank you reg' (and curse you)
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 02:09 AM by F.Gordon
I shot in RAW for the first time today based on your comparisons in an earlier thread. I curse you... cause now I have to buy another flash card or two. :hi: I'm completely sold. Almost no white balance or color adjustments are needed.

The following is completely RAW in RAW. No tweaking of any kind. I could have fixed the underexposed birdie belly but I wanted to just show how going RAW is soooo liberating. I'd recommend that everyone give it a try no matter what kind of camera you are using. My Paint Shop Pro 9 had no problem loading it and giving me the option to adjust (which I didn't) the image pre-processing.

I'm done for the night. Until tommorrow.... think "reflections"... no, think "Hot Days of Summer"... no "reflections"

6. Glad to see I've made another RAW convert...
However, the irony here is that the photo at the head of this thread is not RAW. Why not? Because it was a "drive-by shooting" taken at a time when I didn't have my Nikon with me. I used paisley's camera, which doesn't do RAW.

7. What a fabulous shot, regna!
Much preferable in color, though it certainly works in B&W.

I've been to Seattle a coupel times, but it's been so cloudy every time I've never seen Mt. Ranier. I'll try and rein in my skepticism by suggesting you photoshopped it in! :silly:

8. The color is extraordinary...
I'm really jealous. I got some pretty nice shots over the past five days that we were out, but we've had the usual fires up here this summer and a lot of haze. It's cool in its own way, but I really love these crisp colors.

10. Better bring two of them...
...or, better yet, a laptop to download your photos, because I'm pretty sure you'll use up that 1 GB fairly quickly.

13. And another one...
Rainier in Clouds

I found this one interesting because, when I finally got to see it at full resolution on the computer, my first thought was that it almost looked more like a painting than a photograph.
