Lonesome Town.
Around 2:00 AM on a foggy night a couple of weeks ago. Shot from a monopod, which helped a lot.

1. Lonesome town is right...
These look very melancholy...

The black and white, and knowing that you were out at that late hour...

Really beautiful, my dear Jeff...

2. Thanks, Peggy. I was going to stay in
but Nance convinced me not to pass up the opportunity. Definitely one of those "fog was so thick we shingled the barn and three feet out onto the fog" nights. We don't get this kind of weather often, so it's nice to get out and record it.

3. There is a movie "Town without Pity"
that this reminds me of in spirit. The music from it has now settled in my head. These are really desolate. They make me feel lonely.
I like the third one best.

4. Very powerful movie, that.
I did manage to scare the wits out of a passerby that night. He didn't see me until he was five feet away and I gave him a cheery "Hey." I still often forget that "Hey" isn't generally used as a greeting up here.

6. It sounds unlikely, but there was a great cover done of the song
by Paul McCartney, shortly after Linda McCartney died.

Sir Paul hasn't forgotten his roots.

7. Simply gorgeous. I've always loved foggy nights. In the second one, my brain
keeps expecting to see snowflakes.
