1. We are so incredibly lucky
to have you in our midst, Patti.
Thanks for perfection, one right after the other.

I suspect had you entered the second one in the contest it would be involved in the pretty stiff fight for the win ha will start tomorrow.

3. I'm so incredibly lucky...
...to have found a forum with such great people and photos! I spent a lot of time in the political forums before coming here - now I only scan those places because politics is still so painful (even with a Dem in the WH). I love this community and am so happy to share my passion with like-minded and talented people like you and the rest of the gang!

Thank you!

5. You aren't alone in that sentiment
about politics being so painful and searching out other forums to spend time with like-minded people.

And Mira is right. We are so lucky to get to see your photos. They do their subjects such justice. Those beautiful animals are really shown to their best advantage in your shots, Patti.

Do you do this for a living? If not, you sure should. :hi:

6. Today I was part of Hands Across the Sand.
Thanks to MoveOn.org, all up and down the coast(s) people joined hands in solidarity against offshore oil drilling and to pay our respects to the disastrous losses in the Gulf. Met nice people from all walks of life who wanted to express their feelings any way they could, even if it meant a few moments on the beach with 75 others. It was beautiful but sad. Looking out over the water and imagining ourselves waiting for the onslaught was on virtually everyone's mind. Everyone I spoke with agreed that we all have some responsibility for what is happening in the Gulf but we feel so powerless, so helpless to effect positive change. If only...

I save my photography for myself pretty much. I shoot for money once in a while, but it's usually for friends; the occasional wedding (once with a horse in the bridal party!), dog agility, and horses. I get to shoot the horse show (and the PBR bull riding event) I work for (where most of these photos come from) for promo materials -- for three weeks my camera is stuck in my right hand!I am lucky to have the access! I may shoot the races at Del Mar this year but I struggle with my ambivalence regarding that sport. But the horse, oh those magnificent horses!

Thanks for your kind words!

4. Yes, the action shot...
...reveals just how hard horses are willing to try to get the job done. He looks as though he's giving his all and understands his role in the game! In the first shot I think if the mane hadn't been so cute it would be just another head shot. Thanks for sharing your comments Miz Pip!
