Joshua Tree
I took this out in Red Rock Canyon a couple of weeks ago.

By the way, does anyone know a way to force the images to display at their true size in this forum? They always display a little larger and therefore not as sharp and focused. I tried putting in an image tag using square brackets but that didn't work.

1. Another one to do the desert dance - great shot, and no, I don't know the
answer to your question.
Red Rock Canyon, right outside of Vegas, I have great memories of it.

2. Thanks!
Red Rock Canyon was a revelation to me when I first moved here. I just love it, it's about a 30-minute drive from where I live and it's beautiful year-round.

3. That is really beautiful
I've never noticed my photobucket pictures being larger. I always use jpg though, and just plop in a direct link.

4. Hmmm, it did not occur to me...
...that it could be related to using png format. I do use the direct link from Photobucket. Oh well -- appreciate your kind words!

5. Okay I figured it out...
...I know why images were displayed slightly larger than their native size in my browser.

I run my Firefox browser with the text displayed in a larger than default font. I do this by hitting the Ctrl-Plus key combo a couple of times. It seems that when Firefox increases font sizes, it also increases image sizes by the same amount. This probably solves some page formatting issues, but it can potentially degrade the quality of the displayed image. I have also noticed this on some of the news sites that I scan like sfgate.com and lasvegassun.com so it isn't just Firefox.

My workaround is to right-click and choose "View Image" if I want to see an image in its native size. That way I don't have to start messing around with screen resolution vs. browser display defaults vs. how I like to view text on screen, etc.
