A moose.
Hi guys! Haven't been around much. I'm on "furlough-cation" from my job, and taking a couple of months off to bum around. I just bought a Jeep in Maine and am on my way back down to New Orleans this week.

Anyways, I saw this guy a hundred feet off the highway this morning and doubled back to take a few pics.

5. I'm taking lots of pics.
I'll try to be selective.

2. Glad you turned around
and captured him/her. I'd love to see one some day as long as it is off the road. Seen what a white tailed deer can do to a car, hate to see what a moose would do.

3. SMASHUP!
my son was on his way back from a race in Maine a few years back... just crossed the border into New Hamphire and a moose hit them... the coach's car was totaled. Don't know how they (people) escaped unhurt? (the moose died) Most of the time there is a human fatality. I was on a motorcycle years ago and a moose came out from behind a barn to cross the road. I missed the moose but figured I might have been able to drive clear under her if I had to. :-)

4. I've heard of both happening.
i lost a friend who hit a moose. He had an old lifted Bronco with a brush bar and the moose flipped up and through the windshield. He had three young children.:-(

Another guy I know was coming down 27 and came around the rise to see one standing broadside in the road. He locked up the brakes on his new 72 Volvo and came to a stop with his hood under the moose. The moose stepped on his hood and walked off into the woods. He replaced the hood and hung the one with the moose print on the side of his pool house.
