Anchorage's Fire & Ice New Year's Eve celebration
New Year's Eve was great this year. We're in the middle of a little heat wave (January's Chinook wind), so it wasn't even cold, probably right around freezing even after dark. This is the first year I can remember when we didn't have to go inside to warm up at least once during the evening. Last year it was sub zero.

Anyway, I've posted some pictures here: http://northernvisions.smugmug.com/Events/New-Years-Eve-2010-Fire/15304236_rnmef#1144984635_bSSBM There's fire! There's ice! There's Evelyn "Champagne" King! And fireworks, of course.

I've been working on my night photography skills -- pretty tricky with those fire batons, but they produce some interesting results. Always a learning experience.

Happy New Year to all of you. :)

1. I absolutely love your photographs...
Most of us call your shots 'on location' whereas you call this "home"

2. Fabulous set, Blue
Hula hoops on fire? Oy vey. I envision lots of singed tummies.

3. One of the fire boys kept catching his shirt on fire.
I think they must have had some kind of fire retardant because he didn't get flustered at all, he just tamped the little flames out and kept on twirling. I was impressed. :)
