The Indian River at Sebastian Inlet Florida

One of my favorite Florida pics. I had to hang around these birds for an hour or so for them to get comfortable enough with me and allow me to get this pic. It was a test of patience for all involved I think.

1. This is a very impressive feat. congratulations on this shot - they look
perfectly camouflaged, don't they.
Thanks for coming here and posting this. Keep looking in, we have a contest getting ready to start, actually two of them. A seasonal one "Winter" will be first, and then comes the February contest, where we will start by gathering ideas for a theme. Anyone is welcome to enter the contests.

2. Excellent.
Winter will smack us here in VA tomorrow, I'll have to get some pics.

I've been interested in joining the group and posting to some of the contests, but been rather lazy about it. Tonight was a good night to get going.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

3. And I'd like to second that welcome.
I like this photo a lot. I think it would be quite different but just as enjoyable in black & white. Good work!

13. Interesting.
I'll have to see if any software I have can manage that.

15. What I have is Picasa from Goggle.
Free download, I have it on my PC and my Mac. It is (in my opinion - and it is all I use) comprehensive, easy to learn, and a wonderful way to do minor sharpening and manipulating of photos. It also can convert to black and white with one click.

12. Yes.
I have had this as my desktop for a while now and I find that the bird with the brown head really can disappear even while I'm looking right at it. Probably why it seemed to be a chosen perch of theirs. I feel the shot was worth the wait and lucky to have gotten it.

7. It is near Vero Beach.
Nice satellite image in Google maps. Just search on Sebastian Inlet, Vero Beach, Indian River, Florida.

9. It's on the east coast
between Melbourne and Cape Canaveral.

Here's a link:

It is one of the places where the Indian River dumps into the Atlantic. Great place for fishing too.

8. Love the photo.
It has a John James Audubon feel to it. Well worth the waiting for them to get used to you being where they thought you did not belong. :)

14. Fabulous shot!
It took me a minute to see the pelicans, they blend in so well -- but they make the picture!
