2. Fishermans Wharf San Francisco and I can still.....
Edited on Mon Mar-21-11 07:06 PM by Bonhomme Richard
smell them.
Funny story. This was the first, ans last time we have been on the west coast and I knew that there were seals in San Fran bay. So we are walking out a pier at fisherman's wharf but we went the backside because I'm a sailor and wanted to see the boat in their slips. Well, we got to the end of the pier and there was a seal bobbing up and down. I was excited and took some pics and was thankful I got to see a seal. Turns out as we walked around the corner there were hundreds of them lounging on the docks. I felt really stupid.

7. Those seals at the Wharf are a bone of contention, didja know?
Over time, they have taken over the docks, and some people are not happy about it. There was a big
kerfuffle over whether and how to have them removed, chased away, left alone.
There is another colony at the opposite end of town, at the City beach along the Pacific, but one cannot get as close to them.

8. Actually they left about 2 weeks after I was there.
Everyone was shocked that they just up and disappeared but I believe they have now come back.
