So I learned about RGB/CMYK this week
when the boss and I went to the printer and discovered what we saw on the screen at the office was different than what the printer gave us. They fixed it for us and I see that to really understand this hobby of photography I have to learn the printing side as well as the photo side. That is if I want my work to look the way I think it should. I created an event invite using this photo and when we got there it was quite a bit lighter than what she wanted.
In the photos below, one is converted to CMYK and one is RGB. Can you tell the difference? There's quite a bit of difference to me, but the CMYK looks like the RGB when printed. :bounce:

1. RGB for computer
CMYK for print. Most printers now prefer to do their own ripping to cmyk. I'm surprised that yours didn't do it automatically.

2. Now that I've done a little reasearch
so am I. Just like your posting, I've committed to memory; CMYK for print, RGB for computer. :)

3. Next step is ICC profiling.

So that the color of your monitor matches the color of your printer - and you can send a picture to someone else with an ICC profiled monitor and they will see exactly what you see.
