4. I think your eye is pretty good for a newbie.
I have about 5,000 pictures on Flickr to choose from - I have already chosen the pic for this theme. I had chosen it when the last competition seemed to be going for negative space. So, I am all set - and enjoying watching what other people are doing with the theme.

3. Tabatha showed up and said exactly what I was thinking. 1 and 3
I like the water best of all. It's amazing, and a perfect example for the theme. I am very fond of the first one, too. The Huge S curve in the background (negative) is riveting.

5. Showed up, huh ? :-)
I frequently and silently observe and enjoy what everyone is doing. I learn a lot each time.

Thanks, Mira for your efforts!

:hi:

6. Did I say something with a double meaning I'm not aware of?
I'll never fully master all the subtleties of the English language, though I keep working on it.

Thanks Tabatha for expressing appreciation for my efforts.

9. Some photos come out of chance.
I was taking photos of the algae and the reflection of the moon while hiking with the dog. As I was shooting he jumped in the water and that is what caused the ripples so I took advantage. It did affect the moon images though. What was left of the moon are the small white lines in the bottom left corner. LOL, sometimes you can't control everything and that can be good and bad.

8. This contest is forcing me to
think about my shots rather than just going out and taking pictures. There's a big difference, not only in the work but also the satisfaction. My brother said once that we will never be rich because we have too many interest and are not focused enough. It's probably true for me because I do have too many interest and one in particular, playing in a band, has been my primary joy. When my business had a good year I splurged and bought a D-300 to replace a FE2 that was stolen from my sons locker in High School. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't spend any time getting to know the camera and that is changing. My plan is to eventually replace the band (I'm getting too old for lugging equipment around at 2 in the morning) with the camera and I am looking forward to concentrating on photography.
I really appreciate all the help that is given here.
Thanks

12. Not on your life would I do that. I'm more into.....
the nature end of things. I will probably drift back to wildlife photos. Many, many years ago I gave up bow hunting because I decided I didn't like shooting animals but I did like being in the woods so I bought myself a Nikon FE-2 and went out into the woods looking for shots. I was a great sitter and stalker but not so much a photographer. I didn't work at it and gave it up about 20 years ago. I started drifting back to photography a couple of years ago but now I want to get a good as I can at it by starting with the fundamentals and this forum, and you people, are an inspiration toward that end.

14. When I finish up all my shots the hardest thing..
is going to be picking one. Do I go with my favorite or the one that would appeal to more people? All part of the fun I guess.

15. Trying to guess what others like makes you second guess
your own skills. Go with what you like and don't worry what others think. They "get it" or they don't.
