Here, as promised, my favorite rejected photo for "Back lit"
As an entry I would probably call it:

From my Castle: Curtains.

On second thought a subliminally suggestive and catchy title like that would surely propel me into first place, no matter what other photos are submitted.

Considering I've run two contests as a favor for others so far this year I won't be perilous like that considering that my Royal Reigning Duties are a time consuming Regiment.

So instead should I change my mind and submit it I won't title it at all in the hope that you like it even as it stands on its aesthetic value alone.

1. Wow!
Weirdly enough I have a sort of emotional attachment to the subject matter, and I can't really separate that out from how I feel about the photo. This reminds me of the patterns I would see of the light coming through the venetian blinds of my west facing, second story bedroom when I was a kid. I remember being fascinated by the hue of the light, and its placement as the season changed from summer to fall. It meant school was ready to start!! Usually it is smells that take me back to my childhood, but this photo sure did.

There is also, though, a mystery to this photo. It looks like it could be a cover for a mystery book!

I think GD likes catchy titles but I imagine it is rare that it changes votes..........and, if it does, so what? All fine by me! I wonder if my "Another Misty Morning" title was sufficiently catchy to get the nod? I might have to go with a more generic title next time.

3. GIRRRLLL - did you not notice that the proof of value in a catchy titles lies in IMITATION
and that by using it you set up an avalanche of potential for winning?

Do you know that there had been a number of photos with "MOON" in the title when I chose it for my bird in the Winter contest and just added "Winter" to the Moon, and BINGO my supposedly mediocre photo won?

You won with "Another Misty Morning" a couple of weeks ago.

Now in true flattery and baiting the trap of a potential big win Mz Pip has titled her photo "Morning Mists of April".
Everything is in motion...already...the die is cast, les jeux sont faits.
Who or what has been entered or will still be entered for "Spring" has possibly become irrelevant because (other than myself)
Titles rule.

Thank you for liking my photo, Celebration. I think when something takes you to your childhood, the emotions and level of happiness at that time get triggered. I think it's the limbic system in the body. Maybe not.

5. I didn't even realize that I did that
until you just pointed it out. Must have been in my subconsious mind. Unbelieveable but true.

I'll try to come up with something else. Like I said, I am really bad at titling things.

9. For heaven's sake, dear Mz Pip, of course you were not aware of it,
I noticed it as soon as I saw it because I have a thing about words.
And smiled.

This happened before we learned just how powerful titles are to subliminally influence votes.

Some things are perfect and best left alone, and I would feel bad if you changed it now.

10. It's no big deal
I've already PM'd the host to change it. Simple enough to do.

not as much as your very first backlit post once the theme came up. The plant near the building that I will have to find and comment on so you know what I am talking about. I'm just not a blinds kind of girl though do like the other worldly feel of it. Love that it brought back childhood memories to Celebration.

Now if my feeble attempt at looking something up works take this with the caring it comes with.........Benehmen Sie sich.

7. Jawohl.

Other than that,
I have actually forgotten which one you mean. Since your opinion is gold to me, I will go find it, maybe it will trump the one I'm holding in abeyance for an entry.
I went overboard a bit in posting my rejects, my arm is healing slowly and hurting a lot, so I can't do much yet. I like the theme a lot, and as I worked with it got some new understanding of it under my belt. They did not have titles, anyway, so they weren't true contenders and perfectly irrelevant.

I'm with Tabatha on the photo of the blinds. I would like to even see that painted in oils on a large canvas.
I think it could sell for "muchas dollares" to a buyer who has them.

I also think it's good we don't all agree on the same photos, so it stays fresh and different around here.

11. OH WOW - so this is the one you like! I like what you did a lot, it improves it. But
I would not consider it as an entry, I just don't groove with it emotionally maybe because I was craning on a stairway and almost lost my footing in order to take it.
You certainly improved it, but it still has no title. What's with that?

13. You want a title too?
Edited on Sat May-07-11 06:34 PM by CC
How about "Behave Yourself".:rofl: Actually I hate trying to think of titles so would go with the first one I thought of,"Reaching for the Sun" in French or German.

Reminds me, I did once use Portuguese for a title name because it looked/sounded better than the English title. Then the next contest some one else did the same and a few other contest got different languages for titles. I'll have to remember that again in the future. I posted where my title came from this time in the comment thread.
