Poll question: +++++++Poll re: Trying Blind Submissions This Month**********
I am neutral on this idea. If I were voting on a permanent change in the contest I would vote a resounding NO, but there seem to be people here that think that blind submissions might be a good idea. I am willing to try it this month, if you all would like. I think I would vote YES for trying it out. Here it is how it would work: Everyone would IM me their photos. I would start a thread and post the photos to a thread, so everyone here could see the photos without the name of the photographer. I might do this once a day or so, so we could keep up with the entries. I would give notice if the contest was close to closing.

The one thing that I would ask is that people not change their entries after they submitted them. I am not sure my brain could handle that information since it would not be right under the entry. My brain has issues with Random Access Memory. I could see myself substituting for the wrong entry...........that would be a mess.

I really like the idea of changing or tweaking the contest rules every month, so that part of it appeals to me. I just happen to think it would not change the voting much AT ALL. All I can say is that I am willing to try this one time, for this month, if you all want. I do think it would be kinda cool to get out of our comfort zone in terms of the rules each month. I am all for trying new things. This just happened to come up this month. If we tried it and it was a disaster, so what? These contests are just for fun.

7. NO NO NO!!!
We are not making this retroactive!! I meant to put that in the first post. Any photos that have been posted to date will be exempt. It is not fair to change rules in the middle of the game! But from this day foreward, no photos that are entered should be posted in the group. So, it is up to you whether you enter that photo!! I may put this in a separate post.

10. None of the entries have been posted for the may contest. I have posted
Some potential entries in a thread below, so it wouldn't matter if I change my mind before an official entry. That's what I was getting at. If I entered something I have posted previously on this forum, it would defeat the purpose of a blind entry.

11. Let me put it this way
I will not disqualify any entries if they were posted to the group prior to today. It would not be fair to make the rules retroactive in that manner. But after today, any Backlit Photos posted to the group will be disqualified from entering the contest.

12. I was talking about my responsibility as a participant. I wouldn't
want to go against the spirit of blind entries. I understand your position and support it.

I think it will also make people rely on their own judgement, not the results of a poll.

5. heh heh
I actually think it will be fun. I'll know the people entering, but if I didn't it could be fun to guess. One thing is I hope it doesn't slip up and get to thirty before I know it!! I'll try to put out warnings in time, but basically it is up to everyone to try to be within the first thirty entries. But I may not be near my computer at a time when people send them to me............

As long as everyone knows THAT, and not to run polls to see which photo to enter, and that they can't change their entry, it should be fairly easy. I'll post the photos to a thread as they come in, in case others do like I do and try to submit something a bit different, just for fun.

8. This will be a lot of fun. I'm glad we're game to experiment.
You are doing a wondrous job anticipating the potential pitfalls of a new venture. I'm impressed.
This will be a lot of work for you, and I appreciate your willingness, as well as your ability to take charge.

That Czaring thing suits you very well.
