"vacation" is over... but there are memories
Edited on Sun Jun-12-11 12:17 AM by handmade34
there was too much work to take many pictures... Vermont is beautiful; green, wet and full of black flies

a neighbor making hay across from me

painting kitchen cabinet doors

early morning laundry

robin's nest at back door... she built it quickly when no one was home for a few days and we discovered 3 eggs in it... mom would fly off everytime someone came out the back door. I wanted to paint the door and was about to take the nest down figuring the eggs had no chance... my last day we found half of a blue eggshell... much to our surprise and delight, a baby had hatched... orders for all people to come and go out the front door until the babies are gone!!

8. he came out of the washer
with his arm in his mouth as if he were squelching the pain of rolling around in the washer... Kermit has been in the family for more years than I can count and got dirty in all the construction and sanding... we painted the kitchen green in his honor and will now start a frog collection (good luck) to display

2. Oh My, you were not kidding about the work you did. I was off to bed when these
photos appeared, and I was all squinty eyed at the bucolic nature of the first when the others rolled down. The cabinet doors remind me of a been there, done that occasion in my life I would like to forever forget. But the fact i did it brought extra bucks when I sold, so it made up for it.

LOVE the Kermit photo unconditionally :) Fabulous.

Great bird story, happy visual.
And I think the last one is simply gorgeous with the light colors being such accents in this old fashioned depiction. I would crop it a bit tighter, especially from the top and left, but I think I'm on a cropping binge I need to get away from.

Thank you for a pictoral of your "vacation".
Be safe in your travels and keep the photos coming.

4. I simply adore Vermont, and
would visit as often as I could when my daughter was a grad student in Burlington.

Your "old hay rake in the overgrown field" is by far my favorite in your series.

5. Great job
And like your wonderful entry into last month's contest, each of these tells a story. I love all of them, but I keep going back to the last one. It is awesome.

I've only vacationed once in Vermont....I really want to go back!

6. my house is extremely modest
and the back few acres is a delightful cedar swamp (the neighbor has permission to take what cedar he wants and he makes lots of furniture, bird houses, what have you from the wood).

The reason I am fixing up is we hope to turn the house into a fully furnished, fully stocked (lots of good reading material too) vacation rental starting in November. The house is across from a small lake, across from the state's snow mobile trails, near lots of biking and hiking trails and ski resorts (Burke, Jay, Stowe, etc...) As long as I have to work away from home, we would love to see the house enjoyed by others... if you need a base to see Vermont from give me a call... :-)

7. Wow I will remember that
The Internet has really helped facilitate vacation home rentals by home owners. We have used vrbo three times now and been happy each time. We even used them to find a location for my daughter's wedding. It's a much more reasonable and fun way to travel than going to a hotel.

Your location sounds wonderful and it looks beautiful. I am sure this will be a successful venture for you.

10. Enterprising! I like that, and wish you the very best. I have never been to Vermont
or maybe even the vicinity. You take such wonderful photos, that would help you a lot in the advertising of the house. I take it your children are all grown and not living there?
I am a landlady with experience, I have rented rooms in my house for decades to students at the arts school nearby, though now I finally stopped that.
So, other than with the painting of cabinets, I can maybe help a little if you ponder a question.

9. The hay rake is an interesting image.
I like the way it plays hide & seek between the foliage.
Thanx for sharing.
