the lower 49 in my view. That the people have a little summer where they can go sleeveless is heartening. The roller girl is related to Sarah, right!?!

:) What I like most about our parade is the diversity, which definitely represents the diversity of our city, and this year especially the emphasis on peace rather than war. Even the military vehicles in the parade were old ones from the days when the Army built the Alcan Highway back during WW II.

to bad its so damn dark and cold in teh winter. we actually looked at moving there one time. went so far as to go to aleyeska over christmas to see if we could take the dark.. the answer was no.... Of course as i got older the cold atrted to bother me more and more so now im in texas :-)

But every year, just when you think you can't take another day of it, the days start getting longer, the snow starts melting and the glorious green shows up everywhere, and you realize you've survived another one.

Where in Texas are you? I lived down there in Pasadena from 1962 to 1968. After I graduated from UH in 1968, I left and never went back (except to visit a couple of times in 2000 and 2004. Texas is NOT my cup of tea. I guess it's a good thing we don't all want to live in the same place.


And I love Anchorage. It's a great little city.

its the only part of texas I could live in. I moved here 2 years ago from madison wisconsin. woke up one morning it was -23 and me and my wife looked at each other and said "this is stupid". in june of that year we flew to austin for a weekend to check out the city and were so impressed we bought a house.

as i get older my cold tolerance gets less and less. plus i like having sunny skies in winter which we seldom have in the midwest except when its stupid cold.
But i do love anchorage,just couldnt live there. Weve been there 5 times already on our way to other parts of alaska (weve been through a good part of the state from prudhoe down the dalton to fairbanks,thru the aleutians up to nome,through the inside passage,and camping on kenai and in denali

we liked it so much1 of our dogs is named denali

I love number 2 and the flag reflection.

and so colorful! Makes me want to be part of the scene.
