Got a new toy.
Back in the day I had a Bogen tripod for my RB67 and Calumet 4x5. Great product and extremely versatile not to mention strong.

So when I saw this http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-190XPROB-Tripod-056-Monopod/dp/B004TGGSM0/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1311869550&sr=8-27 I had to have it.

It goes high

It goes low

It works on uneven surfaces

It offsets 18 inches

It won't support my weight like the old one did but it's good to 8 pounds which is more than my Oly E620 and Sigma 135-400.

I also got this http://www.amazon.com/Aputure-Coworker-Wireless-SP-510UZ-Compatible/dp/B002KDXQLA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1311870075&sr=8-2

It is also available for most other DSLRs.

Now, if the heatwave ever goes away I'll get out and do some shooting . . .

1. IMPRESSIVE. Congratulations. It looks and acts kind of like a ballerina.
I look forward to your photos.

2. If I didn't already have a tripod...
This would definitely be tempting. I'm quite jealous.

Hope you enjoy it and I'm looking forward to your shots.

4. It's the $200 rule. $200 is where the interesting stuff starts.
What's difficult for casual or even really serious hobbyist to find is what sort of technology is out there to make the hobby more enjoyable, photographs better and creativity easier.

This kind of tool lends itself to pre-visualized images. The sort of situation that would make a more interesting image if you could just stand on your head, hold the camera at arm's length and be motionless for the 5 exposures you need for HDR imaging.

95% of what we do doesn't even require a tripod but when one is needed it's usually some off the wall application. I went through half a dozen tripods and monopods before I discovered Lester Bogen's miracle.

Speaking of momopods, you can get the same support by using your conventional tripod with a short bungee cord wrapped around the feet. Makes your tripod a multi-tasker!

I've said before that I'm a technician and as such I fixate on tools.

6. Thanks a lot - Now my bank balance is being depleted.
I was so happy with the $109 Tiltall Tripod that a friend gave me!

Maybe I can just get the head.
