New lens!

I finally broke down and bought a prime lens - a Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G. As most of my shooting is sports, I've been using a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G zoom lens, but it's still a little slow for low light and also I've been working on my portrait and still shots so the 50mm seemed a good start.

I tried it out at dusk down at the local skate park and this was the result. No post processing, ISO 400, f/2, 1/500.

1. Read some good things about that lens. I'd go crazy looking

for the aperture ring.

2. Thanks. Prior to this camera (D40X), I had only used point and shoot.

So the AF-S type lenses aren't bugging me with the lack of an aperture ring. If I ever come into serious money and can move up to D3... :)

3. Still, a fast auto lens for action is the way to go.

You can find a lot of good used manual lenses.
