A site where the photographer explores life & the people of Afghanistan

His photographic records, along with the verbal portraits of his subjects, are truly amazing.

Here is an example of one verbal portrait:

Zabitashan:

For the last many years, I have just had a gun, and that is my way of life.

I joined the mujadeen when I was 10, and when the Communists were in our land and the people of Afghanistan united to fight them.

We're not like you. We're are a mountain people. We're tough.

So I was part of that. When the Soviets were finished, we had our own fights among our own people. All I have even known is fighting. We have had so many years of war, and sacrifice. If we had real leaders, we might have peace.
